If you’re interested in how money, businesses and organisations work, our new Accounting & Finance V-Level gives you the chance to explore the sector while developing practical and academic skills.
This two-year Level 3 course combines classroom study with applied learning, giving you the opportunity to explore accounting and finance without having to specialise in one particular career from the start.
You’ll develop your understanding of how organisations use financial information to make decisions, while building the numerical, analytical and communication skills needed for further study, higher apprenticeships and careers in accounting, finance and business.

You’ll explore how accounting and finance work within different organisations and develop an understanding of the role they play in business decision-making.
Topics will include:
? Financial statements and financial information ? Budgets, costs and investment ? Financial ratios and interpreting financial data ? The business and organisational environment ? Professionalism, ethics and regulation ? Risk and security ? Technology and its role in accounting and finance ? Data, analysis and evidence-based decision-making ? Communication and presenting financial information
You’ll learn how to apply your knowledge to different situations, analyse financial information and use evidence to make informed recommendations.
The course is designed to give you a broad understanding of accounting and finance, so you can explore where your interests lie before deciding on your next step.
How will I learn?
You’ll combine classroom learning with practical and applied activities, such as employer-set briefs and industry placements, that allow you to put your knowledge into context.
You’ll work with financial information, solve problems, analyse situations and consider how your decisions could affect an organisation. This will help you develop the skills you need to use what you’ve learned, rather than simply learning the theory.
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE with English Language and Maths at grade 4.
Assessment will include examinations and practical, non-exam assessment. You’ll be assessed on your knowledge and understanding, as well as your ability to apply what you’ve learned, analyse information and make recommendations.
The qualification is currently being developed for first teaching in September 2027, with the first external assessments planned for 2029.
The Accounting & Finance V-Level can help prepare you for further study, higher apprenticeships and careers across accounting, finance and business.
You could go on to study a related degree or higher-level qualification, apply for a higher apprenticeship, or explore careers such as accountancy, finance, banking, business and financial administration.
