Drawing and Painting

Delve deeper into a range of approaches to drawing and painting during this enjoyable course. We'll teach you more about life model, still-life and found material while exploring a range of materials to help you build a repertoire of techniques employed by many significant artists.

This course covers a range of drawing and painting activities with frequent references to the work of contemporary and historical artists. Sessions incude use of life model, still life, landscape, the figure, narrative subjects and abstraction. All activities encourage the development of an individual visual language using different media and materials, themes and approaches.

What will I study?

During this course, you will study a variety of styles, movements, genres and perspectives to drawing and painting. We will encourage you to use a variety of different mark-making materials such as pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolours, acrylics, collage, and ink to investigate and challenge your own interest and preferences while developing your visual language.

There will be opportunities to discuss drawings and paintings by artists you are inspired by, and as you progress in the course, you'll be able to work on your own projects gaining support and constructive feedback along the way.
