Join us for our life-drawing classes, where we'll help you develop your observational and expressive drawing and painting skills through a series of guided studio sessions. Each week you will be introduced to techniques and materials covering the formal elements of line, scale composition, colour, proportion and some basic anatomy.
You will develop your own personal style starting with observational drawing and moving on to explore the expressive possibilities of life drawing and painting.
During these sessions, you will learn how to use a range of media through varying styles and perspectives. You will draw and sketch using pencil, pastel, Indian ink, charcoal and graphite. We'll also introduce you to other techniques, including collage, painting, and measured drawing.
The course is led by one of our Vocational Skills Practitioners and Sessional Lecturers Nathan Barlex. Nathan is a fine artist who's practice centres around the plastic arts of painting, drawing and sculpting. With an MFA in painting from The Royal College of Art and a love for art making, Nathan will help students in a fun and collaborative way to develop and explore their own drawing and painting practice.
