Fashion - Make and Wear Club

The Fashion Make & Wear Club is a relaxed, hands-on club where young people can learn how to sew, customise their clothes, and explore fashion in a creative studio environment. Whether you are completely new to sewing or already enjoy making things, this club is designed to help you build confidence using a sewing machine while learning techniques used by fashion designers. Across the sessions you will learn how to make your own tote bag, experiment with techniques such as appliqué, quilting, frills and flounces, and transform clothing from your own wardrobe into something new. Students are encouraged to bring items of clothing from home to customise and redesign. This could include jeans, jackets, shirts or hoodies that they are happy to cut, sew or alter. Each session includes a short demonstration followed by studio time where students can work on their own projects with support from the tutor.

Students should bring: • One or two items of clothing from home that they are happy to customise (for example jeans, jackets, shirts or hoodies) All sewing machines and basic materials will be provided.

Scott is a co-founder of a clothing brand that has been running for over 14 years. Alongside this, he has worked across a wide range of creative industries including fashion photography and set construction. Scott understands how important it is for young people to have access to a creative outlet in a fun, supportive environment. His teaching style encourages experimentation and creativity, welcoming students with a wide range of abilities and learning styles. As someone with dyslexia, Scott is passionate about creating an inclusive space where students can develop practical skills, confidence and their own creative voice.
