This course aims to give you an understanding of upholstery techniques. It is for anyone from beginners to improvers in standards of upholstery. By the end of the course you will be able to complete your own project, confidently plan future upholstery work and enjoy the effective use of your new acquired skills.

During this course we will aim to cover basic upholstery skills including learning to recover or re-upholster your own furniture , modern or antique, cutting and stitching by hand techniques. By the end of the course you will be able to complete your own project, confidently plan future upholstery work and enjoy the effective use of your new acquired skills.
Continuous informal assessment throughout the sessions, and where appropriate, through the use of individual learning plans.
There is no qualification for this course.

Students need to provide their onw fabrics, trimmings springs and foam. You will need to bring: ITEM OF FURNITUTE TO UPHOLSTER: SMALL STOOL OR SMALL CHAIR.
You will need the following basic tool kit: Wooden mallet, flat headed screwdriver, small tack lifter, pliers, scissors/shears/Stanley knife, small tack hammer, tape measure, apron, bin bag for re-usable items. Notebook and pen. There is no space at the college to leave items to upholster from one week to the next. Students need to take their items home and bring to college for lessons every week..
