During this final year course, you will increase your knowledge and skills in accounting to a professional level and, in doing so, maximise your employment opportunities.
We'll teach you how to draft financial statements for limited companies, teach you complex management accounting techniques, help you understand specialist accountancy and finance subjects, and show you how to analyse accounting systems and their associated controls.
As well as financial and management accounting concepts, you'll also learn about personal and business taxation.
The modules you'll study are
There will be a number of assessments during and at the end of the course. All assessments are computer-based, they are timed, and will take place under controlled conditions.
Once you have finished this course, you will gain a Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.
Once you have completed this course, you could progress onto chartered accountancy studies or find employment in job roles, such as accounts payable and expenses supervisor, commercial analyst, cost accountant, fixed asset accountant, indirect tax manager, payroll manager, senior finance officer, or VAT accountant.
There is an extra cost of £160 which will cover your AAT registration and an annual subscription. You can pay this directly to the AAT when you start the course. You will also find an accounting textbook helpful during your studies. We'll give you a reading list when you enrolment which will include discount codes to use with the publishers. As a guide, the books usually cost £140 when purchased new.
Suitably employed students can also apply for a funded or part-funded apprenticeship in accounting on a day release basis. Applicants who wish to pursue this route but are not employed, will be advised on, and supported with, job applications. Please ask for further information on the apprenticeship route.
