During this course, we will give you a thorough introduction to bookkeeping and accounting. You will develop skills in basic double-entry bookkeeping and accounting, computerised accounting systems, basic costing techniques, and understand the accounting function within an organisation.
We will also look at bookkeeping transactions, bookkeeping controls, working effectively in finance, elements of costing, and using the accounting software Sage.
There will be a number of assessments during and at the end of the course. All assessments are computer-based, they are timed, and will take place under controlled conditions.
Once you have finished this course, you will gain a Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting.
Once you have completed this course, you will be ready to progress onto the Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting. Your qualification can also lead to employment opportunities as an accounts administrator, accounts payable clerk, purchase or sales ledger clerk, or as a trainee accounting technician.
There is an extra cost of £150 which will cover your AAT registration and an annual subscription. You can pay this directly to the AAT when you start the course. You will also find an accounting textbook helpful during your studies. We'll give you a reading list when you enrolment which will include discount codes to use with the publishers. As a guide, the books usually cost £120 when purchased new.
After completing the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 2 students can progress to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3.
