Our Top-Up Degree in Business Management is studied over one year and aims to either supplement your previous academic studies at a level 5 to give you a full Honours Degree or recognise your experiential learning and professional qualifications and experience in industry to reach a Degree level qualification.
Alongside academic studies you will be given a practical and vocational perspective enhancing your understanding of business and management theory. Previous students have used this qualification for promotion, movement into new fields of work within industry, progressing onto further studies or even moving into teaching.
You are also able to study this course part-time, (1 day a week over 30 weeks) which means you could study while working in a business or management role.
Our expert tutors will help you expand your commercial awareness and business acumen, giving you an insight into key areas of business, such as leading and managing organisational change, business strategy, globalisation and international markets. You will use your problem-solving approaches and academic knowledge to critically analyse the development and implementation of business tactics and strategies, with particular consideration to the constantly changing business environment. You will learn about a range of strategic concepts, tools and theories, and also improve your written and oral communication skills during report writing and presentations. Working industry case studies and examples will give you a real insight into the business world and will prepare you for a career in the business world.

Across the one year course you will study the following modules:
Leading and Managing Organisational Change Strategic Management Managing Systems and Operations Globalisation and International business Environment
You will also be supported through your research project ( Dissertation) , developing your research skills alongside critical analysis, evaluation and justification skills. This is a project in which you set the theme, taking into account your strength and interests.
All modules have approx. 40 hours of lecture led teaching time, alongside independent learning and tutorials.
Assessment is carried out through a variety of methods which enhance your professional skills as well as demonstrate your knowledge, these include reports, guides, plans, infographics and presentations.
On completion of the course you will be awarded with a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Management, validated by the University of East Anglia, one of the top 30 Universities in the UK.
As a Degree course our fees are £7995 full-time , if you are studying part-time the fees will be split equally over the two years of study.
The fees are able to be covered by student finance (subject to application and meeting criteria) and maintenance loans are also available.
On top of the course fees there are recommended reading texts which students can either borrow from the library or purchase themselves.
We do arrange trips to exhibitions and shows through the year, where possible we attempt to secure funding to contribute towards some of the costs to keep them affordable.
Course times and days:
The full-time course is ran on a Thursday and Friday, between 09:30 and 16:30 over approx. 30 weeks between October and May. (Part-time is Thursday year 1 and Friday year 2).
Reading weeks are held in late October and February ( to match school term times) and there is a three week break over the Christmas period and a two week break over Easter.
Additional Academic Support;
The majority of our students on our top up Degree have had some time away from academia and therefore we provide workshops and tutorials for people who feel they need to improve their academic skills, these include areas such as referencing, academic writing, planning workloads, critical evaluation and justification of work etc...
Tutorials:
Each week there are tutorial sessions planned where a name tutor is available outside lecture times to discuss workload, well being and to signpost to additional support.
Entry Requirement:
Entry onto the course is via either your previous studies at level 5, eg: Higher National Diploma, or through professional qualifications such as the ILM or CMI programmes. We also take into account your work experience and on job learning at supervisory/management level if you have not got formal qualifications.
