What will I study?

During this course, we'll show you a range of basic skills in food preparation, including peeling, chopping, using correct knives, and safe handling. We'll then share our top tips and best recipes so you can make the most of what you have in your store cupboard and produce healthy, tasty meals on a budget. We'll then guide you through different cooking processes, such as baking, boiling, simmering, roasting and frying so you can produce meat, fish, and poultry dishes and tasty desserts using pastry and sponges.

How will I be assessed?

There will be practiacal observations, support and guidance from you tutor, as well as taste testing.

What qualification will I achieve?

There is no formal qualification with this course, but you will have lots of new cookery skills.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you could join one of our other part-time courses, such as Italian cooking or our curry masterclasses.
