Brickwork for Beginners

This 11-week course is ideal if you want to learn the basic bricklaying skills to complete your own projects at home. You will learn basic brickwork techniques, such as building straight walls and corners, how to mix mortar, and learn types of finishes and pointing. You'll need safety boots/shoes and overalls for each session.

What will I study?

During this course, we'll give you a thorough introduction to bricklaying. The two-hour sessions are perfect for you to learn how to mix mortar, build straight walls and corners, and learn about the types of finishes and pointing for brick and blockwork. You'll also learn about health and safety. Lessons will be practical and fun in our state-of-the-art workshops at Ore Valley.

How will I be assessed?

Continuous informal assessment throughout the sessions and where appropriate through the use of Individual Learning Plans as specified by RARPA.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you might like to try your hand at some of our other trade skills courses, such as tiling or how to install a kitchen.
