Underpinning your learning will be the Person Centred Approach to counselling which offers you a challenging and exciting opportunity to engage in counselling and explore self development. All applicants need to have completed the Level 1 Interpersonal Skills Award.

The course explores and examines from a theoretical and practical perspective the application of counselling skills in a range of different settings. Underpinning all learning is the Person Centred Approach of Carl Rogers which offers a challenging and exciting opportunity to work experientially and enable a deeper exploration of the development of self. The course also provides learning around ethics, difference and diversity, loss and endings, working in helping organisations and much more which is helpful for those wishing to gain skills to enhance their current working role. The course includes 20 hours of home study.
Please note, entry is only open to those aged 19 or over at the start of the academic year.
Formative assessment is ongoing from tutor and peers. Final assessment is on a portfolio of work including skills feedback sheets, self-assessment, learning journal and a case study. This course is NCFE CACHE accredited.
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to use counselling skills in the work place. Participants could apply for a place on the Counselling Level 3 or the Foundation Degree in Person-Centred Counselling. You may need to consider course start dates and entry requirements if you aim to progress to the degree.
