This short course is delivered as an introduction to counselling skills and is appealing to a breadth of learners. Learners may attend and achieve this qualification as a standalone course or as prior learning to apply for the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills. Learners are introduced to listening and communication skills, the importance of self-development and an understanding of how prejudices and value judgements impact our everyday life.
This experientially taught course will introduce learners to key concepts in counselling and provide opportunities for practising listening skills. On completion, participants will have gained transferable skills which can enhance their communication skills and increase opportunities for further training, volunteering, and employment.
The course offers continual assessment from tutor and peers. Final assessment is via a portfolio consisting of skills feedback, self-assessment and learning journal.
NCFE Level 1 Award in Interpersonal Skills
This course can provide a pathway to counsellor training and leads to the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills. Alternatively, participants will gain valuable transferable skills in the workplace
