What will I study?

This course will give you the knowledge of the underpinning principles, and industry standards and requirements of electrical installation technology. It includes theoretical learning on scientific principles, Electrical Installation theory and on health and safety requirements. You will learn the practical skills required to install wiring systems to recognised standards, and to be able to inspect and test wiring systems. You must have completed and achieved the Level 2 Electrical Installations course prior to being able to apply for this.

The EAL L2 Diploma 600/6724/X course consists of 5 units which are:- Unit ELEC2/01 Health and safety in Electrical Installation Unit ELEC2/04 Electrical Installation Theory and Technology Unit ELEC2/05A Electrical Installation Methods, Procedures and Requirements Unit ELEC2/05B Electrical Installation Craft skills Unit ELEC2/08 Electrical Science and Principles Unit ELEC2/01 covers all aspects of Health & Safety legislation including employer/employee duties, the role of HSE and various statutory and non statutory regulations. Unit ELEC2/04 the purpose of this knowledge unit is for the learners to gain knowledge of the underpinning principles and industry standards and requirements of electrical installation technology. They will know about sources of information and the types of information they provide about wiring systems. They will also know about earthing systems and the installation of wiring systems. UnitELEC2/05A This unit will develop learners knowledge of the various members of the construction team and their role within the building services industry. Unit ELEC2/05B This practical unit will develop in learners the skills required to install wiring systems to recognised standards. Learners will learn to use tools and materials effectively in completing well defined tasks for electrical installations. In addition to learning to install systems, learners will also develop skills to inspect and test wiring systems. Unit ELEC2/08 describes the principles of electricity including the chemical, magnetic and thermal effects of current. SI units, symbols and basic formulae are an essential part of this unit.

You will be assessed through a mixture of online tests and practical tasks.

What qualification will I achieve?

EAL Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation.
