Please note: learners are limited to taking part in a maximum of six community learning courses throughout the academic year.
If you have the desire to write but can’t get off the starting block or have begun but need encouragement and inspiration to push ahead, this workshop is for you. Suitable for fiction writers of novels/novellas and short stories and for non fiction writers interested in life writing - memoir/biography etc. Aimed at both writers just starting out and those who are more experienced, we will immerse in writing, building confidence and pushing forward with your writing goals – whatever they may be!
We will explore the tools and techniques writers need to develop their writing. We will do this via writing exercises and discussion. Key aspects we will focus on include, character, voice, plot, structure and how to approach editing your writing. We’ll also look at strategies for making time to write regularly even if you have a busy life and how to push on with writing when motivation and confidence are hard to find.
There is no qualification for this course but you will receive a certificate of attendance if you complete the course.
You can explore a variety of other courses within Community Learning or the adult college.
There are no additional costs. Please bring along a notebook and pen.
