What will I study?

If you're considering a change of career and want to learn a valuable and versatile skill, then barbering is for you. Firstly, being a Barber is a great job due to its hands-on nature. We'll teach you all the skills and techniques you need to cut men's hair while you input your own creative abilities to create on-trend cuts. You will study four units during this course:

  • Health and Safety
  • Client care and Communication
  • Cut Men's Hair
  • Cut Facial Hair

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

You will be required to demonstrate a good level of English in both written and communication skills, in line with the level of the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will continually be assessed during the course. There will be observations of your practical work and written assignments to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you could start working as a barber in a commercial salon, or you might like to improve your skills, knowledge, and qualifications by joining our Level 3 Barbering course.

Are there any extra costs?

There is an extra cost for this course as we recommend you purchase a barbering kit, such as scissors, comb, and clippers. We'll give you more information about the kits and suggest good retailers to buy from during your college interview.

Additional Info

Our fully equipped salons are open to the public, which means you will be able to practise your cuts on paying clients. We also recommend that you undertake some home study as part of the course.
