What will I study?

During this course, you will learn the fundamental practical skills that every therapist starts with. You will develop skills in facials, manicures, pedicure, eye treatments, make-up and waxing. You will learn all the underpinning knowledge associated with the practical skills as well as health and safety in the salon and client care and communication. You will gain confidence in carrying out client consultations that comply with health and safety requirements and develop your skills in our fully equipped training salons.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

You will be required to demonstrate a good level of English in both written and communication skills, in line with the level of the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will continually be assessed during the course. There will be observations of your practical work, written assignments, homework, and short written papers over the 30 weeks. You will be able to collate all your work in a portfolio of evidence.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have finished this course, you could start working as a beauty therapist in a commercial salon or start working as your own boss on a self-employed basis. You might also like to carry on learning and develop your skills and join one of our Level 3 courses or specialise in massage.

Are there any extra costs?

There are a few extra costs as you will be required to purchase your beauty therapy kit, which consists of all the equipment you will need to get started. You'll also need a uniform, which must be worn in the salon, and you may find our recommended textbook useful for your studies. We'll give you more details about these things during your college interview.

Additional Info

Our fully equipped salons are open to the public, so you will be able to practise treatments on paying clients. They'll also help you to complete your assessments.
