What will I study?

During the course, you will learn skills that will enable you to produce a high standard of cookery. You will develop confidence in the kitchen as we show you classical and modern cookery techniques. You will learn the importance of food safety, health and safety in the kitchen, menu planning, food preparation, and how to cook with a wide range of ingredients, including poultry, meat, vegetables, and desserts.

How will I be assessed?

Your progress will be assessed throughout the course, and there will also be written exams and practical assessments.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills, awarded by City and Guilds.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, your qualification will help you secure jobs as Commis Chef or Chef in local restaurants. You might also like to enhance your skills with some specialist catering qualifications such as Cake decorating or Patisserie.

Are there any extra costs?

There are a few extra costs for this course as you will need to buy a uniform and a set of knives. There are also a number of books you might like to buy to assist your learning. The cost of this is roughly £160, and we'll be able to give you more details at enrolment.
