This course covers a wide range of techniques, including spinal layouts, tucking and tapping of stones and trigger point work. You will learn to work with both hot (basalt) and cold stones (marble), and also work with semi-precious stones.
You will learn all aspects of health and safety-related to safe working practices. You will explore this ancient therapy's historical, cultural background and learn how to set up a professional working area and perform full treatments on the face and body.
You will consult, assess and adapt treatments according to your clients' needs and provide aftercare advice.
There are three units to complete: *Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon,
You will be required to demonstrate a good level of English in both written and communication skills, in line with the level of the course. A massage qualification is also required.
You will be assessed by two externally written unit papers taken together. Paper one will test your knowledge on the theory and practice of stone therapy, while paper two will test your knowledge of related anatomy and physiology. There will also be practical assessments throughout the course, including four treatment observations, two for health and safety and three client care taken simultaneously.
Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Stone Therapy Massage.
Once you have finished this course, you will be ready to offer treatments as a stone therapy massage specialist. You will be eligible to join a professional association BABTAC and gain insurance as a stone therapy massage specialist. This will mean you can start working in commercial beauty salons, day spas, or working independently as a self-employed therapist, either mobile or in a home-based setting. You might also be interested in our other beauty therapy qualifications, such as reflexology or Indian Head Massage, to add more treatments to your skillset.
There could be a few extra costs for this course, as we strongly recommended that you purchase a stone therapy kit. You'll be able to practise and further develop your practical techniques in preparation for the assessment weeks and beyond.
We recommend that you wear a salon uniform, with flat closed in shoes. Or if you don't have a tunic, then comfortable loose plain clothing will be fine.
