What will I study?

Building on your previous knowledge, you will take your knowledge and skills to the next level during this Advanced Beauty Therapy course. You will learn advanced techniques in microdermabrasion, including spiralling and cross-hatching, to help remove the effects of scarring and stretch marks. Theory lessons will allow you to learn about different skin imperfections, such as telangiectasia, spider naevi, blood spots, fine lines, photo ageing, uneven pigmentation, colour and texture.

You will learn more about dermatology and microbiology and grow your own bacteria to understand the principles of health and hygiene within the salon. You will learn about the science behind hair, skin and nail disorders, what causes them and how to treat them.

You will gain valuable experience in our commercial salon, as you carry our treatments on clients. These treatments will also form part of your assessment as you need to record a minimum of four client case studies.

Our IPL laser room will allow you to practise the techniques you learn, getting you ready to work in the industry. As of 2016, anyone wishing to perform Laser or IPL treatments must have this industry-standard Level 4 qualification.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Completed a Level 3 qualification in a related subject.

How will I be assessed?

Your learning will be assessed through client observations, client case studies, and an exam.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you will be ready to enter the world of advanced beauty treatments. You will have the skills and knowledge to work in skin care clinics and medi spas. You also have further opportunities to carry on studying if you wish. You might be interested in studying our Business HND to develop your management skills further.
