What will I study?

During this course, you will learn and acquire all the skills and knowledge you need to start working in the industry as a hairstylist. We'll show you techniques in cutting, how to shampoo and condition, and teach you the art of colouring. You will also learn more about what it takes to work in the hair industry, understand the importance of health and safety, and be able to give confident and accurate client consultations.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

You will be required to demonstrate a good level of English in both written and communication skills, in line with the level of the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will continually be assessed during the course. There will be observations of your practical work, written assignments, homework, and online exams

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you could start working as a hairstylist in a commercial salon, or you might like to improve your skills, knowledge, and qualifications by joining our Level 3 Hairdressing course.

Are there any extra costs?

There are a couple of extra costs for this course, as you will need to purchase a kit which can be purchased at enrolment. You will be able to use this kit during lessons and also outside of class so you can develop your skills independently.

Additional Info

We recommend that you spend two to three hours a week learning outside of lessons, working on written tasks, research, and practising the skills you've learnt in the salon.

Our fully equipped salons are open to the public, which means you will be able to practise your cuts and complete assessments on paying clients.
