Digital technology is part of almost every industry, from business and finance to healthcare, education and creative industries.
Our new Digital Systems & Data V-Level gives you the opportunity to explore how digital systems work, how organisations use data and how technology can be used to solve problems and meet people's needs.
This two-year Level 3 course combines academic study with practical learning, helping you develop a broad understanding of digital systems and data while keeping your options open for further study, higher apprenticeships and future careers.

You’ll explore the principles behind digital systems and the ways organisations use technology and data.
Topics will include:
? Digital systems and how they work ? Data and how it is collected, stored, organised and used ? Digital technologies and their impact on organisations ? Data analysis and using information to support decisions ? Designing digital solutions around user needs ? Digital security, privacy and risks ? The role of technology in different organisations ? Problem-solving and evaluating digital solutions
You’ll learn to consider how digital systems work together, how data can be used to understand situations and how digital solutions can be designed to meet different needs.
The course gives you a broad introduction to the digital sector, allowing you to explore different areas before deciding where you want to specialise.
How will I learn?
You’ll combine classroom learning with practical activities, employer-set briefs and industry placements.
You’ll have opportunities to apply your knowledge to different scenarios, work with data, consider user needs and explore how digital solutions could be used to solve problems.
This approach will help you develop both your technical understanding and transferable skills such as problem-solving, communication, analysis and working with others.
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE with English Language and Maths at grade 4.
You’ll complete a combination of examinations and non-exam assessment. This will allow you to demonstrate what you know, as well as how you can apply your knowledge and skills to practical situations.
The qualification is being developed for first teaching in September 2027, with the first external assessments planned for 2029.
The Digital Systems & Data V-Level can support progression to higher education, higher apprenticeships and careers across the digital sector.
Depending on your interests, you could progress towards further study or careers involving digital systems, data, technology, software, business technology and other digital roles.
If you discover that you want to specialise in a particular area of digital, your V-Level can give you a broad foundation from which to take your next step.
