What will I study?

You’ll study a range of units that build your creative, technical, and professional skills: Diploma (1 year) – 8 Units: Media processes & technical skills Design & research skills Professional practice Critical & contextual awareness Audio production Visual production Interactive media production Final creative media project

Extended Diploma (2 years) – All Diploma units plus: Characteristics & contexts in media Audience engagement Preparing for progression Specialist study Final extended project

Each unit combines practical assignments with research and reflection, allowing you to explore media disciplines such as film, games, audio, animation, and digital storytelling.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4.

How will I be assessed?

Portfolio-based assessment for Units 1–7 (Diploma) and Units 9–12 (Extended Diploma) Graded synoptic project:

Unit 8 (Diploma) – determines final grade Unit 13 (Extended Diploma) – determines final grade

Grades awarded: Pass, Merit, or Distinction Assessment includes written, visual, audio, and digital formats Internally assessed and externally moderated

What qualification will I achieve?

Successful completion of the first year will give you a UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels. Once you complete the second year, you will achieve a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, equivalent to three A levels.
