Level 1 Award In Nutrition And Health

This qualification is designed for learners looking to improve their understanding of nutrition and health.

This qualification aims to:

-develop learners' understanding of the importance of eating healthily and maintaining hydration -develop learners' understanding of food choices and how to make healthy choices -help learners plan a healthy diet for self and others -increase understanding of eating disorders, the connections between food and feelings and ways to seek help and support.

Please note: If you are unemployed/in receipt of eligible benefits or in receipt of a low wage (less than £20,319 annual gross salary) you should be eligible to take this course for free. Please contact us for more information.

What will I study?

To be awarded the Level 1 Award in Nutrition and Health learners are required to successfully complete all 3 mandatory units:

• Unit 01 Introductory awareness of the importance of healthy eating and drinking for adults • Unit 02 Planning healthy diets • Unit 03 Understanding eating disorders.

How will I be assessed?

This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence created by the learner. There are no exams.

What qualification will I achieve?

The learner will achieve the NCFE Level 1 Award in Nutrition & Health.

What can I do after completing this course?

Learners who achieve this qualification could also progress to a level 2 qualification in Nutrition and Health or explore other areas within the adult college.

Are there any extra costs?

There are no extra costs for this course.

Learners must be able to commit to all taught sessions and be able to complete additional work set by the tutor outside of course sessions.
