This is an online course delivered via Zoom. This course is designed to teach mindfulness skills to parents for their own wellbeing. By paying attention to and sustaining your own well-being, you can reduce stress and fully enjoy everyday moments for yourself and with your children.
Each session includes practising various short meditations, doing some mindful activities (such as mindful chocolate eating!); sharing your experience in pairs and small groups; being together in the larger group for teaching and discussions. Each week has a different theme such as automatic pilot, kindness and mindful communication, so it is best to attend every session if possible. There are also home practices so you can try them out at home and see how they might work best for you. No experience of mindfulness is needed for the course and it is taught in a very safe, supportive and kind environment: any input in the larger group discussions is invitational. You only share what you feel comfortable with.
There is no qualification for this course but you will receive a certificate of attendance if you complete the course.
You can explore a variety of other courses within Community Learning or the adult college.
There are no additional costs; all materials are provided.
