Our Medicine Access course prepares you for degree-level study in a variety of Science and Medical-related degree courses. You will study units in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and develop your research skills, ready for your degree.
People who intend to progress on to medical school to train to be a doctor, dentist or Vet.

During this year-long course, you will study units in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, while developing your research skills, ready for your chosen degree course. These units will give you the necessary qualification to progress to a Medicine, Veterinary, or Dentistry degree. The course is made up of 60 credits, of which 45 are graded, and 15 are un-graded.
Conditions as agreed at Interview.
You will be assessed by essays, reports, textual analysis, seminar presentations and examinations. You will also submit assignments for each subject unit and complete coursework in the core units.
You will also submit a 5,000-word research project on a subject of your choice, which will form a major part of the overall assessment.
Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Medicine.
Once you have finished this course, you can progress onto medical-related degree courses at universities across the country. Many of our students go on to local universities, such as the University of Sussex, Brighton and Chichester (guaranteed interviews and guaranteed places are offered for some courses at these universities through the Compact programme).
There are a few small extra costs associated with this course, as you will need to pay a small fee for your UCAS application to universities, and you may wish to buy some textbooks relating to the A-Level Science syllabus.
This Access Course is 'QAA approved', which means it is validated by LASER Learning Awards (formerly Open College Network). The course is taught on campus, three days a week, between 9:00am and 4:30pm.
Interviews for this course take place each May shorlty after the closing date and 22 successful applicants will also be offered a guaranteed interview at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
