PGCE/CertEd Further Education and Training Level 6

Teaching is an inspiring and rewarding career. This course will give you the skills you need to enter into the Lifelong Learning Sector of post 14 to 16 education. The course is split into two pathways depending on your prior qualification. You can study the Cert Ed if you have a Level 3 qualification, but have not obtained a degree; and you can study the PGCE if you are qualified to degree level. Both pathways are taught together over the two years, where you will learn how to effectively plan lessons, practise your teaching technique and develop your own teaching style. Your learning will be split between practical teaching activities and classroom observations, with the other half consisting of theory and academic study. Over the duration of the course, you will develop a good balance of interpersonal and academic skills, which are essential to help you complete the course and start your career in teaching.
