ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES
ESOL courses are for adults who are not fluent in English and want to improve their language for work, study or living in the UK. We offer a range of part-time ESOL courses at every level in the daytime or evening.
You will learn with other students who have the same level of English. Our teachers are very experienced and they use the most up-to-date materials and a variety of approaches to make sure that your classes are interesting, motivating and effective. Classes include group, pair and project work and computer-based activities.
PLEASE NOTE: We have received a large increase in enquiries and some courses have limited space. Please do not apply for more than one campus and accept our apologies for any delay in replying. DECEMBER COURSES: Our courses starting in December are now full. The next course will start in March. Please continue to submit your application and we will contact you later in the year if places are available.
English for Speakers of Other Languages
Here's what some of our students said about learning English with us:
“It has helped me to speak, listen, read and write in English. It also means that I can help my son with his homework, have friends and make appointments.”
“I have learned so much and have more confidence in myself.”
“I felt close to the rest of my class. The teacher worked hard to create a good atmosphere in the class and make things right for us.”
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
You must have the right to study in the UK and be 16 years or older.
WHAT EXAMS WILL I TAKE?
You will take a national ESOL Skills for Life qualification.
HOW LONG ARE THE COURSES?
Courses in Eastbourne and Newhaven are between eight and twelve weeks long for six hours per week.
In Hastings we have full time courses, which are five days per week for eleven weeks, or part-time courses, which are one day or one evening per week for seventeen weeks.
WHERE CAN I GO NEXT?
When you have finished your course, you could move on to a higher level in ESOL. You could progress to Functional Skills or GCSE, you might find a job, or you might go onto further education.
