HNC Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering

Our HNC Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering course can be studied as a stand-alone qualification, or as the first year of the HND qualification. It will give you a broad understanding of mechanical and manufacturing principles and provide a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills needed for the industry. During the modules you will explore the analytical methods used by engineers, product design, and engineering science. You may also decide to expand your knowledge in advanced computer-aided design techniques, and the application of pneumatics and hydraulics to complete the qualification.

During the course you will cover three core modules. During these modules you will explore the details and principles that underpin analytical methods and engineering science. You will also undertake a personal project that will require you to use your creative abilities to design, implement and evaluate a solution to an engineering problem. You may also decide to expand your knowledge in advanced computer-aided design techniques, and the application of pneumatics and hydraulics to complete the qualification.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed the course you will have a diverse range of transferable skills that will enable you to either, advance in your current role, or push for a promotion in this exciting industry. You may also choose to continue onto the second year of the course to complete the HND programme.
