Access to
Higher Education
Students should be at least 19 years old at the start of the course. Our course has outstanding success rates and is very well respected by universities, both locally and nationally; in addition to academic tuition, you will receive the support of a Pathway tutor, who will provide academic and pastoral support throughout the course. You do not necessarily need any formal qualifications or experience to undertake an Access course, but many university degree courses will require GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above, in addition to the Access Diploma; if this is the case, we recommend that you gain these qualifications prior to enrolling on the Access course.
We offer a range of Higher Education courses at East Sussex College that offer suitable progression routes from Access to HE. Follow this link to find out more about these courses. Also, guaranteed interviews and/or places may be available for some degree courses at local universities, through schemes such as the Compact programme; we would advise you to check this with the universities that you wish to apply to.
